Pet Peeve Of The Week

my pet peeve of the week is a bit early because we're on our way to kelowna for my husbands family reunion. pray for me! anyway, here it is:

we are in the midst of getting our passports. yes our trip is in the beginning of august and i have left it until the last possible moment but .........if we lived in ontario this would be an easy task. we could walk into one of 10 passport offices across the province and have it in 10 working days, but as it is, we live in the interior of b.c. and in a province as big as ours there are only 4, yes 4 passport offices in the whole province! all of them in the lower mainland. so i guess if you happen to live outside of the lower mainland (which millions do) you're shit out of luck. you have to mail your original birth certificate and your health card to ottawa. we have to trust the morons is ottawa not to lose our important i.d. and then mail us our passports on time. which rarely ever happens. to make a long story short my pet peeve is: there should be way more passport offices throughout the province. we all pay taxes not just people in vancouver!

Lollapalooza Canceled! ! !

What is wrong with this world?!? Britney Spears and other crappy pop stars can sell out endless shows but Lollapalooza can't? It had the best lineup in years! Morrissey, Sonic Youth, The Pixies, P.J. Harvey, Broken Social Scene, The Flaming Lips, Wilco, The Von Blondies.

Stress Season

the forest fire season is well under way. last summer was SO stressful. over 1200 fires in our province. huge clouds of smoke, ash falling on our house. lots of people had it a lot worse and lots their homes and everything else. i guess as soon as the fall came i put it all out of my mind. well it's back! there are a couple big fires already going strong. its just something we're going to have to get used to. global warming is here to stay, especially since nobody is admitting that its the cause.

Lanterns

i bought a string of these really cute pink mini japanese laterns. there are ten on a string. i love anything that glows and/or illuminates so i'm quite pleased with them. it is SO hot here tonight, so that's all i could think of writing.

Poppy

we are all thinking of you poppy. have a safe trip to the coast and come home soon. we miss you already.

Pet Peeve For The Week

it is a lovely, warm sunny day here so i feel kind of bad complaining about a pet peeve but ......my pet peeve for the week is:

when you've boughten something from a store and the person you are dealing with is not the most polite or friendliest. but you are still trying to be nice and at the end of the transaction you say "thank you", and they say "you're welcome". like they've just done you the biggest favour. i'm sorry but i just gave you MY money. would it kill you to thank me? i feel better now, thanks.

Is It Just Us?

is it just my friend poppy and i who noticed that the new harry potter movie has a completely different set? i know alfonso cuaron directed it and i liked the look and feel.... it was just quite tiring watching the characters climb around on that mountain. up, down, across, up, down, across. i think if the grounds would have been like that from the start i might have prefered it but as it is, it was quite distracting. what's more odd, is the fact that after enduring endless talk from the media and others about the movie no one and i mean no one mentioned it. so i thought i would.

Give Me A Break

i almost lost my cookies watching paris hilton on letterman last night.
she claims that what you see on the simple life is her playing a character, she doesn't really act anything like that.
ok paris. she also stated that she doesn't spend her parents money. wow, i guess i've had it all wrong.

Larry Sanders Show

i think the larry sanders show was one of the funniest shows ever to be on tv. HBO has only released the first season on dvd. as far as i know they have no intention of releasing any more. if you were a larry sanders fan please email HBO and express your interest in getting the rest of the seasons released. thanks!

How Sad

if there is one group that should call it quits it's got to be inxs. now they are going to be involved with mark burnett and his next annoying show.
know when to call it quit boys!
