Shocked
I was quite shocked this morning as I surfed around for news on the usual spots. Mainstream and alternative news sites still have the Terry Schiavo case front and centre. I surely would of thought that the school rampage shooting in Minnesota would have been the headline for one day at least. Boy, when the media sinks it's teeth into something they don't let go. I mean, Columbine was such a huge tragedy, 13 dead. We heard about it relentlessly for years. This is a huge tragedy as well, 10 dead. Would the Minnesota rampage have recieved more coverage if it didn't take place on an Indian Reservation? Just wondering.

Hi Jody, I was thinking the same thing this morning when I caught the headlines. All of the cases you mentioned are so heartbreaking but the way the media reports on them is so frustrating! Sometimes I just don't feel like watching the news but then again you have to know what's happening in the world. Frustrating.
It's really gross isn't it. Most of the stories and issues that I find important I literally have to search for.
The Terry Schiavo case is very sad but this woman who I believe to be in a vegetative state has more rights in the U.S. then the country of millions that they have invaded.
For me it's all about brown skin. It's 2005 people, wake up!!!!!!!!!
Sorry that was my little rant for today.
Funny. I was thinking the same thing. The fact that on My Yahoo! has the Shiavo story listed first EVEN as the MN shooting was happening bothered me.
Perhaps we have grown so jaded with the whole school shooting thing that arguing over a woman's right to die is more "fresh".
Jaded with school shooting. That's just sad, if not sickening.
(BTW - Jodi, thanks for stopping by!)
My pleasure.
