Blog Curious

I was visiting a blog yesterday that I go to a few times a week.
I noticed while reading that two commenters were going at it (no, not that kind of going at it) they were fighting!

It seemed that the argument started over differing opinions about the posted topic but then quickly escalated into pretty fierce insults and ugly personal attacks. I was quite surprised although I'm sure this kind of thing does happen from time to time.

So, I became curious about the good, the bad and the ugly of blogging.

Today I'd like to talk about the ugly.

1. Have you ever received a rude comment?
2. Have you ever left a rude comment, deserved or otherwise?
3. Have you ever witnessed chippiness between two commenters?
4. Have you ever had a repeated visitor that you wish would lose interest?
5. Have you ever given your blog address to someone you later wished you hadn't?
6. Do you have any tales of blog weirdness you'd be willing to share?

I have been very lucky with my blog so far. If I had a nightmare story you guys would be the first to know.

i have tried going to that website, but she had already taken the fight down...but as for nightmare blog stories:

i have a person who comes to read my blog every day without fail. they posted a rude comment, then nothing for months. after that, it was a bunch of rude comments (i believe they actually came to your site and slagged me here) all in one day.

i can still see their ip address in my sitemeter EVERY DAY! but its not like its some random stalker, it is a person i know, actually.

and yes, there are a couple people that i wish i had never given my address to. but even when i want to slag someone i know i get these nightmare visions of them finding my website somehow ha ha.

I've been pretty lucky too. I have some nice blog friends (you're one of the nicest ones). I once had someone leave a silly comment in riddle (or so it seemed) that had nothing to do with my post. I thought the guy was just trying to promote his site, so I just ignored it.

Jessa: Yes, that is a very weird situation. I've known you for 21 years and I can't imagine what type of person would have a problem with you. You are truly the sweetest most generous person I've ever known. I think the commenter on your blog had some jealousy issues over the boyfriend (if you know what I mean)

It must not be nice knowing that this person who tried to hurt your feelings reads your blog every day.

Carolyn: That is weird. I don't think I'd be interested in reading much after that either. I think I am a little more shy then I come across on my blog but this is definitely me.

Chelly: Thanks! I feel the same about you.
I think I might of read that comment.
I've left one mildy rude comment pretty recently. I stumbled onto this Sports blog and the writer was obviously trying to be as "controversial" as possible. In just the first paragraph he wrote that Canadians must be losing their minds without Hockey because of our 12 month winters and that Steve Nash sucks as a basketball player.

I didn't even get through the rest of the post because it was just so anti Canadian. So of course I couldn't help myself. I had to point out how misinformed he was. I was surprised that he didn't come to my site and let me have it but I was happy he didn't.

you are so sweet jody! i think the whole situation is actually pretty funny. it definitely has not ruined my blogging experience.

i am glad it doesn't seem to be a common occurance, judging by all these comments.

Thank you Jody! You know what, I think you did read that comment (that guy left on my blog)! Wierd huh? :)

And regarding that anti-Canadian guy, I'm glad you informed him properly. Knowing you, it probably wasn't a cheap shot or anything. So I can't see how anyone could get mad!

Hope you have a nice weekend!
